Biography
Wendy Sanders began her makeup career while attending college in Fort Collins, Colorado. While earning her degree in psychology, she worked in regional theater and film, quickly becoming renowned for her makeup skills and earning an Openstage Theatre Opus award for her makeup design. Wendy also honed her skills in henna tattooing with many private clients in Colorado. In 2005 Wendy picked up and moved to a bigger pond with more opportunity, Austin, TX.
The moment Wendy landed in Austin she began working in film doing everything from glamour to SFX. Her work has been seen at numerous festivals including Cannes and even won another award for makeup for the short ‘Recently Deceased’ at the Wild Rose Independent Film Festival. Wendy also began more work in glamour photography working for private and commercial clientelle including many renowned published photographers.
When not up to her elbows in hair and makeup, Wendy can be seen performing with her burlesque troupe, Black Widow Burlesque as Ginger Snaps as well as modeling for local retailers Secret Oktober and Emily Clay corsets and clothing!
The Blood and Glitter empire has now spread to include not only makeup and hair styling of all kinds, but numerous other ventures to suit anyone’s cosmetic desires. Wendy has once again started henna tattooing and also recently added DREADHEAD! as a new division of Blood and Glitter. DREADHEAD! includes custom dreadfalls and hair accessories and can be found at local retailer Secret Oktober as well as ordered directly from Wendy. She has also ventured into more bodypaint work as well, all of which can be seen in the galleries!
Blood and Glitter continues to expand and take on new ventures and Wendy’s work can be seen across the nation in film, photography, and stage!
